Cayo Largo is in the South Central region of the Cuban Archipelago, one of the last virgin spots left on the planet. Cayo Largo offers fine saltwater flats fishing for tarpon, permit and bonefish within close proximity of your accommodations at the Hotel Sol Melia. The prime season runs February to June and the chance of a Grand Slam is at its highest with an excellent baby tarpon fishery, good numbers of Permit and the year round bonefish present.
Cayo Largo is limited to a maximum of 6 boats per week that is fished on a rotating beat basis to ensure that you experience un-pressured fishing throughout your stay. Bonefish grow to large sizes on the Cayo Largo flats. Clients regularly encounter fish that exceed 8 lb and the chance at double figure fish is ever present. Over the past few years Cayo Largo has proved one of the best places in the Carribbean to land a grand slam with the guides developing fly patterns that prove highly effective on the local permit populations.
