Client in the news after landing huge Sturgeon

Dr Peter Starbuck has travelled to Canada with us for the past few years and this year he decided he would like to have a few days sturgeon fishing at the end of his weeks fly fishing for Pacific Salmon at Kalum River Lodge. He sent through some interesting feedback. I am sure he will be back next year.

Dear all,

You may be interested in the reaction to the fish I caught in British Columbia on a visit which was arranged by Mathew McHugh at Fly Odyssey.

Anne Ward at the Cruise Centre got me to Vancouver, and the main part of the trip started at Kalum River Lodge with Deanna Taylor and Andrew Rushton at Terrace (30 miles south of Alaska), which claims to be one of the world’s greatest fishing experiences. This is justified by the results. It was a good start, with 21 salmon caught in four days of fishing. What followed was even more spectacular – 12 sturgeon weighing 1.350 lbs in total. I hooked but didn’t land a further three fish weighing 520 lbs – all this in two-and-a-half days. This was on the Fraser River at Chilliwack, where I fished with Steve Kaye, the Sturgeon Hunter. The biggest fish came on the morning of day two, a sturgeon weighing 360 lbs. The result has been quite explosive.  There were picture articles in the Oswestry Advertizer, the Shropshire Star (front page), Daily Mail and Daily Express. Not all the details in the Express and Mail were 100 per cent accurate!
