Cosmoledo is one of the finest saltwater fly fishing destinations on the planet. Client David Reverdito has just return from a great weeks fishing in early December and vows to return….
Some of you may have seen the recent movie “9 degrees south – Land of Giants” about Cosmoledo Atoll in the Seychelles, well thanks to Mat I managed to go there and I can vouch that it is truly the land of giants. There are GTs everywhere, on the flats, in the lagoon, outside, just everywhere.
We fished 6 1/2 days all up, the first afternoon on Assumption which is where you fly into from Mahe, then we steamed across to Cosmoledo overnight and fished there. We also steamed to Astove one night and spent a day there too.
All up I landed 35 GTs to just over a metre, and lost 3 fish that were well over that size. I also managed to add 15 new species including a milkfish, and I had a few shots at permit too as well as countless reef species. It was right at the top of my bucket list, but now that I have scratched that itch it’s just getting worse, I need to get back there again for more.
