Fly Odyssey are thrilled to be able to offer the opportunity for our clients to fish the Kennet river carrier streams at Denford in 2016. The Denford fishery offers just under 2 miles of available fishing meandering through the Berkshire countryside
These charming carriers are easy to cast across but good stalking techniques, light tackle and line presentation are the skills required to fish on this delightful fishery. If you like to wander, if you like to hunt, if you enjoy getting lost in your fishing then beyond all doubt you will thoroughly enjoy your day at Denford. The water is crystal clear with pools and glides, riffles, twists and turns. The mayfly hatch at Denford can be truly extraordinary and an easy rival for its famous chalkstream brothers. Each new corner presenting a hidden challenge with fish on the fin looking for fly life and a wonderful mix of wild, stocked and grayling.
The Kennet Carriers have recently undergone significant changes with bank regeneration and management around the fishery. The bank fringes have been allowed to grow providing shade and protection for the fish with a breeding ground for insect life and superb stalking areas for the fisherman. The pathways are mowed and there are seats on offer to have a break whilst fishing. New stocking policies and river keeping have improved the quality of the fishing on offer. You certainly won’t find the large stocked trout that are in the Test but you will find real fish in a natural environment and enough of them to keep you challenged.
Denford is an easy drive drive down the M4 from London, with nearby Hungerford 5 minutes away and if you are looking to stay over, The Dundas Arms at Kintbury https://www.dundasarms.co.uk would be the ideal venue.
Costs are good value for money at £140 per rod out of mayfly and £160 per rod during the mayfly.
We also sell corporate days with guides and full catering on the beat with a maximum of 8 rods.
