The experienced guides enjoy guiding all levels of anglers from the novice to the expert. Sharing our passion for angling, the outdoors and the diverse fisheries that northern British Columbia has to offer makes being a fishing guide here a rewarding experience.
The Skeena River system is world-famous for its runs of Pacific Salmon and Steelhead. The Skeena has a huge amount of fishable water and a number of high-quality tributaries and wilderness sections which means you will constantly be fishing new and un-fished water. The nearby rivers of the Nass and Kitimat ensure that during a week’s stay you will not even scratch the surface of the possibilities available.
These rivers all experience exceptional runs of Pacific Salmon and the Skeena reportedly receives the largest run of Steelhead in the world, with catches of Steelhead of over 20 lbs and King Salmon weighing over 60 lbs. Each year the Skeena system produces some very large fish and currently has 2 world records with 2 Kings caught in excess of 90 lbs. Due to their nature, these rivers lend themselves to many of the techniques used when fishing for Atlantic Salmon. The use of double-handed rods and Spey casting is the norm on the larger rivers while the smaller tributaries are ideal for those who love using a single-hander.
A typical day starts with breakfast around 7:00 am after which you meet with your guide and head off to whichever part of the river best suits your preferred target species, fishing methods and allowing for seasonal variations with running fish and current conditions.
Access is either by fast jet-boats, trailer-boats and or four-wheel-drive vehicles. The fishing grounds are usually reached within 5 to 45 minutes from leaving the lodge. All fishing is walking and wading or drift-boating with up to 3 anglers per guide. Anglers are advised to take all fishing equipment with them – waders, rods, reels, lines, flies and leaders.
Fly direct to Vancouver and stay overnight. Take a two-hour morning flight to Terrace where you will be met by lodge staff and transported to the lodge, which takes around thirty minutes.
